two major problems:
- the extraction (everything kuroimisa said on the matter is right)
- the scan does not blend with the background, what does it mean, it is
completely separate and not a part of the background, which is partially due to
the problems with extraction
What is bad in this wall is the extraction. Honestly, we have been telling you
guys that a decent extraction is a must. It really determines a quality of the
final wall. There is also a place in the wall, the blue-haird guy's sleeve that
was cut and you did not bother to redraw the missing part. Thus redraw it. Also
the scans are not clean, there is a lot of noise so you might wanna improve this
as well. That is all about the wall.
And I will say it for the thousand time, there are certain requirements for
wallpaper to get accepted. We do not expect new wallers to be perfect, but we do
expect some basic quality requirement. So if you can honestly say that your
wallpaper meets everything specified in the FAQ the more probable it will get
accepted.

How is the quality and effort of my wallpapers evaluated?(edit)
» This is an important subject, as many wallpapers are
deleted every day. There are minimum effort and quality requirements for
submitted wallpaper because minitokyo wants to provide high quality content and
in order to reduce the leeching, since leeches are generally scared by
effort.
Actually, effort is more important than quality, especially for new members.
These are four points that, if followed, will greatly increase the chances of
your wallpapers staying on Minitokyo.
1) Extraction. The act of taking a character out of a scan to put in your
wallpaper. Polygonal lasso or pen tool + at least 500% zoom is your friend if
well used, while magic wand generally makes for worse wallpapers, and shows less
effort
2) Cleaning. If the scan is grainy or contains other artifacts, cleaning the
image is an important point
3) Layout. A decent composition is important. A thought out wallpapers is
certainly more appealing and represent a higher level of quality/effort
4) Quality and effort in designing the background. This is a topic too vast to
be covered here, but try to make quality backgrounds. Monocolor or other
extremely simple or filter-whore backgrounds, while nice in some cases, usually
do not lead the moderator to judge your wallpaper a high effort one.
Of course we're not expecting new members, nor old ones, to be perfect in every
one of this aspect, though please try to give your all. But a wallpaper trying
to follow these criteria is MUCH more likely to be accepted. The art &
design forum contains further help on these topics, as well as links to tutorial
sites. Also a detailed description of the creation process will help the
moderator judging the effort you put into your
wallpaper.
Yes, as previously you still need to work on the extraction. Here is one of the
possible tutorials: http://www.imanimetions.net/tutorial/tutorial.php?view=extract
this one uses polygonal lasso tool you can also try searching for other
tutorials for the extraction that use pen tool. There are lots and lots of
tutorials for photoshop out there. just
try and find them
First and formost. Work on the extraction (a process of cutting image from the
original background). A good extraction is one where there are no artifacts left
(no scattered lines, white pixels left and so on). When you do the proper
extraction (one of the many possible tutorials for it: http://www.imanimetions.net/tutorial/tutorial.php?view=extract)
work more on the scan's quality. Do not blur it that much. Try cleaning it. Then
try to work on the whole composition and background. Generally putting a scan
over the same scan but zoomed in is not what one would call walling. Hope this
helps.
Ok. I am not the one who deleted this wallpaper. But I can undestand why some
moderator thought this wall is a bit too much. The girl is basically naked
although all important parts are covered. But even if not for the
"mature" reason it still fails the bacis quality requirements, thus it
would still be deleted. For the quality part: this wallpaper is just a scan
slapped on a plain background. One could also argue that the scan needs some
cleaning, just as the bg needs more variety.
Shining tears wallpaper was rejected as it is just a scan stuck on a one color
background. We expect our members to work on thei bg for wallpapers more. The
Aria one is simply, as you said so in the comment, a scan not a wallpaper
There is certain degree for quality then we expect in wallpaper submission, you
can read about it in the FAQ (under Support section of MT) but just for the
convenience of the discussion I will copy it here:

the new version is much better, but there is still a one thing worth improving
before submitting. look at the girl's clothes, then after your extraction, you
can see not only the border line over the whole character but also some brighter
line above it, which looks like a remnant of the extraction. this is not good
and should be deleted, becuase it diminishes the quality of the wall and
prevents the character from smooth blending with the bg. other then that a
certain improvement from the 1st version
First question, what do you use for scan extraction? It is still far from being
decent
Second, what is the purpose of those different phases of the moon? Where did you
take them? Cause they look just like cut directly from a stock photo - without
any modification. So those moons do not really fit the whole wallpaper, they
awfully stand out and at the same time look terribly unrealistic even for an
anime wallpaper. You should once again improve their extraction, perhaps modify
them more, make them blend into the bg.
Moreover, I wanted to ask you where is the source of light in your wallpaper?
There always is the light and thus there ought to be some shadows, but your
character is perfectly shadowless.
And yet another thing, leaving all previous stuff aside, the character does not
really look as though she would kneel on those clouds. Both are completely
separate and thus do not go well together. I suggest you look for some tutorials
on photoshop. You can find many of them, try going through some and improve this
wallpaper
ekhem... ekhem...
I wanted to point out that when you are at the main page there are links to new
submissions there >.> They are located under each user's options box
(where you have your name, number of credits, notifications etc.) and through
them you can access the newest submissions from: wallpapers, scans and indy art.
The two things that changed are: the new submissions are no longer featured on
the main page (meaning you cannot see their thumbnails there) and you no longer
get all recent submissions in one place but they are in separate categories
making it much less confusing (I saw thousands of comments on wallpapers like
"nice scan" and on scans "nice wallpaper" >.>)
Hi Wandering Youth,
I am not the one who deleted this wall, but in my opinion it might have been one
of the following reasons for the deletion:
- the background is photo, we usually require members to manipulate the stocks
they use with more then just one filter and generally prefer backgrounds created
by the users themselves (and this wall looks like it was a combination of few
easy photoshop techniques if that is the proper word >.>)
- there are some flaws in the extraction (see bottom part of the blue girl's
hair) but it is nothing serious
- the trees shadows on the characters are really interesting ^^
- i also like the overall concept for the work
Just try working more on the bg itself, effort pays off ,
hope that helps a bit :]
Advantages:
1) watchlist and friendslist
this allows the one can have people on a watch list, that means that one gets
notified of their submissions and one does not have to be friends to get
notifications of the artists' submissions
this also allows for the friendslist to be a true friendslist, meaning people
with whom one chats, communicates, discusses various topics here and outside
mt
2) the layout
i like it more then previous
3) the organisation
as Haia already pointed out, everything is more ogranized then before, it
requires getting used to but on a long run ought to prove better solution
4) new forum categories
this might help and give the grounds for new and interesting threads and
discussion, we lacked those lately
5) it is faster already, I do not have stupid timeouts (and with bugs that are
gonna be solved and are solved when we are actually talking about all this we
can live for now)
and there are more :P but i am too sleepy to type them all g'night
all
But the "dark sides" as you call them are nothing compared to the
improvements in MT3. I myself like MT3 better already. You are complaining about
the level removal. But what was level really for? People were stupidly spamming
just to get to level 10. Credits in this respect are more fair. If you want to
download you must in a meaningful way participate in the life of the community.
Simple and fair and hopefully will:
1) prevent leechers
2) increase mt's speed
You are also complaining about the restrictions on groups. But do you really
have to be an administrator of more then 4 groups? Will you actually have time
to participate in their life? On a regulary basis? I hardly think it is
possible. I am an administrator of 4 and I hardly visit them at all. As a matter
of fact I visit 2 groups on a regular basis for the rest I lack time. So, inmo
this is not a valid argument against MT. And it really does not diminish or
restrict one's level of participation, it only restricts how many groups can one
person create.
Quote by dianasis not that Asahi .. i du
not like the idea no friends no more groups..sad because i love to help with
groups..and the sistem is so restricted now
Dianas, you are wrong. It is not like there will be no friends at all. Go under
the control panel -> friends, check the boxes next to each and every of your
friend you want to, and then update their status to "friend" from the
right now "watch". There are groups still as well. The system is not
restricted, it works in different way that is used to but it does not mean it is
worse. It is different and all of us need to learn the new interface of MT3 and
get familiar with the credit system. Just wait a bit and see how it will look
like, when all of us get used to it and all the bugs will be fixed. We do not
have unlimited bandwith as has been pointed out continuously by Keltosh and
certain measure had to be taken to save it at least by a tiny little bit.
I just want to ask all of you. Stop complaining
for now. It will not help out you nor administrators in any way. Try to
browse MT3, see what great new features it has, how it looks like right now,
learn its new organization and grouping. And try to welcome it in a more open
minded way
I will tell you guys something, when I first browsed through MT3 today, I was
also a little puzzled at first, but the more I surf it the more I start liking
it. It is certainly an improvement and a change, hopefully for the better, but
only when you guys start cooperating and appreciating its new features rather
then sticking blindinly to the old mt2 that was not the best at all and had many
faults as well.
Dear Yue-Hoshino, it has been said from the very begining that high quality
items will be choosen over low/er quality items. It is normal. And it is not
that unfair. Scans do not give one much credits nor level a person. Scans are
uploaded here to share and provide a high quality walling material for wallers.
